Caving in the Pyrenees

The Pyrenees are home to countless caves open to all to explore the fascinating world of caverns.

Caving is not only a fun outing, but above all a sporting, scientific and cultural activity.

Whether you are with your family, a novice or a seasoned expert, discover the caves to visit throughout the year.

Caving with the family

From the age of 6, children can take part in a caving outing for a day or half a day.

For these first dives, the routes are of course secure.

The Grotte de la Pale

In the depths of the Hautes-Pyrénées, this horizontal cavern is ideal for beginners and families.

Located near Lourdes, you can discover large rooms and important galleries enriched by traces of cave bears.

The trail is fun and your children will be fascinated by the history of the formation of this cave.

The Bouhadère cave

In Saint-Pé-de-Bigorre, the Bouhadère cave is a little more sporty than the Pale cave. You will need a harness to access the large rooms of the site.

Between the beauty of the stalagmites and stalactites, the underground landscape is breathtaking.

The little extra of this cave? An introduction to abseiling (10 meters) to make you a real adventurer.

The Resistance cave

Suitable for teenagers from 14 years old, this cave is well hidden among the shrubs of the Pibest/Ahoület regional nature reserve.

Descend into the meanders of the cavern to discover a unique stalactite and observe the natural phenomena of the cave that have sculpted this underground decor.

Caving for the experienced

Between adrenaline and surpassing oneself, discover some caves intended for adventure lovers and sportsmen.

The Borne 109 chasm

To reach the depths of this cave, you will have to alternate between abseiling and climbing up on a rope. This is the ideal route for all those who wish to take on a technical challenge.

On arrival, you will discover a geological treasure with the extraordinary white room.

The Eaux-Chaudes cave

Famous for its grandiose entrance, the Eaux-Chaudes cave is accessible from the age of 14.

After going up along the underground river, you will see a network of gigantic rooms and galleries sculpted by water.

An adventure rich in emotions and discoveries that will leave you with unforgettable memories.

La Henne Morte

If you are ready to challenge the depths of the Earth, then do not miss this legendary expedition.

Renowned for its complexity and its emblematic character, this caving is intended only for the most seasoned.

You will descend a series of vertical shafts of 380 meters before following a difficult horizontal progression putting your physical intensity into play.

You will be rewarded for your efforts by the underground beauty of the landscapes of this unparalleled crossing.
